Boma 45

With a compact design which always makes a big impact, Boma 45 is an exclusive armchair with a solid wood and steel structure characterised by enveloping armrests and a minimalist yet welcoming padded seat. A perfect combination of formal creativity and artisanal manufacturing, the original armchair is ideal in an elegant living room, both in combination with a contemporary dining table and alongside a sofa in the centre of the room, or even in a professional environment where hospitality is a priority.
New to the collection presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Boma 45 is the first product concept from the renowned VGA Architects studio, which designed an original armchair for Bodema with an organic profile, light and elegant, with balanced and innovative proportions. As the name suggests, the armchair design finds inspiration in nautical architecture, more precisely in the beam on which the mainmast sail is inserted - the boma, to be exact. Reimagined thanks to the creativity of Vittorio Grassi, the wooden structure was transformed into a continuous, fluid but rigid curvilinear armour, a structure cut into a triangular section, rough-hewn, shaped and assembled with steel metal components. In addition to acting as a base for the backrest and seat, they establish the perfect balance between minimalism and solidity. The strong link with the maritime sector is confirmed by the attention dedicated to environmental sustainability, translated into a coherent choice of materials used. The frame is in fact made of FSC ash wood sourced from responsibly managed forests. The structure is solid steel tubing, and the precious stringing that frames the seat is made of recycled materials.
The result of a holistic vision that does not sacrifice any detail, Boma 45 is a small masterpiece of contemporary design in which nothing is left to chance, not even the smallest details. The attention to aesthetics is reflected in the precious 45° processing of the wooden frame, in the cord that hides the metal skeleton and in the padded cushions, simple but essential to provide a comfortable and satisfying sitting experience. With removable covers, the cushions are offered in a selection of high-end upholstery options to satisfy the most refined aesthetic needs. From fabric to velvet, through to real leather, each variant is available in a range of colours from classic and natural, to more lively shades to create interesting combinations with the warmth evoked by natural ash or wengé.
